London Carnival Weekend 2026: The Best Black Events to Hit

Notting Hill Carnival weekend is the crown jewel of the Black events London calendar — three days when the city's Black community comes alive in a way that's unlike anything else. From Amapiano festivals in the park to open-bar day parties and intimate R&B nights, the 28–30 August 2026 weekend is stacked from start to finish. Here's every event you need on your radar.

Thursday 28th August

1. Piano People in the Park

London's biggest Amapiano festival returns for its third year at Southwark Park on Bank Holiday Thursday. Expect eight-plus hours across two stages, spanning soulful Amapiano grooves to heavy Afrohouse energy. The 2026 lineup features Kelvin Momo (making his first-ever UK live band performance), STiXX, TXC, Zee Nxumalo, and MFR Souls — a genuine festival-level bill for the genre. 2. Recess

One of London's fastest-growing party brands is out on both Thursday and Saturday this carnival weekend. Their 28th August edition goes day-to-night at Vespers Club, with Recess bringing their signature blend of Hip Hop, R&B, Afrobeats, Dancehall, and Amapiano to 1,000+ partygoers. Friday 29th August

3. DLT Brunch x Somebody Anybody

The DLT team takes over Boxpark Croydon for a full daytime carnival warmer, and if past editions are anything to go by, it'll be one of the busiest events of the weekend. Over 1,000 people come through for an open-format set covering Hip Hop, R&B, Dancehall, Afrobeats, Amapiano and more, with multiple food spots and spaces to move through across the venue. 4. Dankie Sounds

Amapiano and Afrohouse heads, this one's for you. Dankie Sounds — one of London's leading collectives for the sound — returns to The Cause in East London for their Bank Holiday Weekend edition. Since launching in 2021, Dankie has grown to 2,000+ attendees and taken events to Ghana and Ibiza. 5. Slow Motion

Running across both Friday and Saturday, Slow Motion is a 25+ open-bar day party built for people who want the sounds they don't hear enough outside — slow dancehall, lovers rock, Caribbean fusion, R&B, and sexy Afrobeats. Based at 83 Rivington Street in Hackney, it's an intimate and curated experience away from the chaos of the main carnival weekend crowds. Dress code applies; no tracksuits. 6. DLT Inner Circle

If you want the DLT energy in a more intimate, grown setting, the Inner Circle edition on the evening of the 29th is your answer. Running from East London, this is the 25+ version of the DLT night — smaller, more mature, and with a focused atmosphere that the bigger events can't always match. Saturday 30th August

7. Recess (30th August)

Recess rounds out the weekend with their second carnival appearance — venue TBA, but if the rest of the 2026 calendar is anything to go by, it's worth staying alert for the reveal. Another 1,000+ partygoers, the same quality sound, the same high standards. Follow @rec.ess for the venue drop.

8. Brunch n Vibez

A day party for the 25+ crowd covering Hip Hop, R&B, Afrobeats, Amapiano, and Dancehall, Brunch n Vibez is a polished addition to the Saturday lineup. 9. Nairaa and Chill

Close out carnival weekend on a completely different note at The Jazz Cafe in Camden. Nairaa & Chill delivers R&B, slow jams, soul, and a few forgotten gems in one of London's most beloved intimate venues. For 2026 they're running a special Ballads 'N Bottles edition on the evening of 30th August — tickets from around £15.
